Toy Service Gifts

Toy Service GiftsSt Mary’s Slaugham had its third annual Toy Service on Sunday 4 December.  David Dickson, the volunteer co-ordinator, came along and spoke to first the children and then the adults about the work of FSW.  In his children’s talk he asked the young people what causes families to be unhappy particularly at Christmas time.  The children then did a colouring competition where they were given a picture of Knowles Tooth to colour (FSW’s residential centre in Hurstpierpoint) while David outlined the work of FSW and a few examples of how the charity has helped families in the diocese this last year.

During the last song, the congregation were invited to bring up their toys and gifts which were taken down to Knowles Tooth the next day so that they could be distributed as Christmas presents to families in need.  It was a huge pleasure and joy to be able to take down a boot full of gifts for children of all ages and we hope they go some way towards giving some families a very Happy Christmas.
