FSW workers royal reminiscences
FSW workers Ann Ward and Elaine Waight were invited to attend the Queen’s Garden Parties at Buckingham Palace in July 2011 as royal recognition of the work done for FSW. “The families we help are struggling to deal with a crisis in their lives” says Ann. “We work in the community providing emotional support and practical advice.” Elaine adds, “It’s all about helping families stay together, gathering skills and confi dence in order to improve their lives in the long-term” .
Elaine saw the Queen, Prince Charles and Camilla and was given tea, cakes and sandwiches in a magnificent marquee. “I loved seeing the diplomats looking stunning in national costumes. Going to a Queen’s Garden Party was just as special as I’d imagined - I’ll never forget it,” Elaine reflected.
FSW Director Maggie Simons says “We rely on dedicated and skilled people like Ann and Elaine. During their 32 and 5 years with FSW Ann and Elaine have helped thousands of people rebuild their lives, providing a sense of hope and a way forward in times of crisis. I’m so pleased that they have received this recognition.”
